one trillion lions would eat every medium to large sized animal on the earth including humans. They would then have to rapidly evolve to seek out other food sources while the rest die out either from starvation or cannibalisation. Seeing as there are one trillion of them some will propably be able to rapidly evolve to cope with different diets and environments, allowing them to survive. Ultimately the world will be populated by many different species which have their origin from the sudden one trillion lion boom. Seeing as lions are already relatively intelligent some of these species will ultimately build civilisations and spread into space and when they do that will definitely open up the possibility for lions to destroy or outlive the sun.
Of course this is all under the assumption that the one trillion lions will not have to deal with a second fictional apocalyptical boost of animals, having a quintillion t-rexes suddenly appear would obviously put an end to the lion domination of the earth as lions choke and die under the sheer mass of an earth covered with t-rexes.
